Power to rule –The Myth
History has shown us that people are ruled by powerful
rulers, kings, dictators and some time ruled in the name of democracy. Ruling
the people is not a correct way to living in a civilized society. They should be
proper representation of the people in the government and transparent laws for
the people.
In this article we will look into certain ruling methods or
ideas which had ambition to rule the world or a certain region.
Monarch and Dictatorship
After the invention of agriculture system the world saw a
new way of ruling the people, it was the monarch system. It was a strict system
in which kings and queens were given the absolute power and also they were
depicted has the direct messenger of god and they have the right to rule upon
the people.
This was a brutal way of ruling the people. The peasants, workers,
poor and the middle class was not given a chance to participate in the day to
day affairs of the government. The government and the policies was run by the
king and the noble people and it was not surprising that it was for their own
interest.
Apart from all these aspects the kings and queens had a
great duty that is to conquer other kingdoms or to conquer the world. This type
of ambition was some time self driven or done for showing the might of the
kingdom. Lot of people died for this foolish cause. Also people started questioning this concept
of ruling .The first major revolt against the monarch was during the French
revolution but it didn’t spread in Europe immediately.
Almost after century after the French revolution, the Europe
saw the fall of Monarchs during and after the first world war. This was the
time when people questioned the unnecessary war and killing of fellow
countrymen. People also indicated that ambition of the King or queen cannot be
the ambition of the people.
The first world war saw the fall of German, Russian,
Ottaman and may other European monarch.
It was the end of the glorification of the monarch and the concept of kings and
queens has gone. But it was the start of the dictatorship. It was a concept
in which the absolute power is give to
an individual by the people or the power is taken by force by a single person.
Again the wish of the individual is driven by wars, conquest
etc. The evolution of dictatorship is mostly because of the bad governance by
the previous governments or monarch. History has shown us people gave absolute
power to the individual in order to develop the country and its people but the
opposite has happened. To given an example I have to take the history of post
French revolution. After the French revolution the country was not stable,
governments changed but power was not given to the working class. People gave
all the power to Napoleon but he had an ambition to conquer Europe and bring
back the monarch system but it did not happen and in the same way dictatorship
is vanishing out of the world.
Race
It was a complex and a new form of ruling the world. After
the humiliation of Germany in the First World War, people like Hitler were
angry with the government and considered it as a betrayal of the government.
The concept of race is complicated and most of the time used
for fooling the people. Hitler was neither a catholic nor an atheist; he wanted
to have a pure Aryan race and believed that this superior race has the right to
rule the world. The idea of one race had a very bad impact on their own
people. The worst affected people on
this issue were Jews and the German people, who suffered economic and political
alienation. The ambition of one person to make a whole world under once race
died after the death of Hitler.
The similar type of race based politics prevailing in India.
The seeds were soured by people like Savarkar and Golwalkar and tried spreading
the concept of hindutava. Also they has an ambition to make a greater India
which include Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma etc. They looked hindutava as a race
and not a religion. They were in the verge of going down but still living in
this society and the present government has a strong hold on this ideology.
Ideology
Each and every individual is associated with some political
party or their ideology, to be clear there is no one called as neutral person. Everyone is
supportive towards one ideology but that could change in the course of time.
This is applicable to all countries.
A countries political ideology cannot be forced to another
country, but in reality super powers try to implement their ideology in other
countries. When we talk about the domination of ideology to rule the world, we
have two political and economic ideologies. One is the imperialist or capitalistic
ideology and the other one is the communist or socialist ideology.
The imperialist or capitalistic ideology emerged after the
industrial revolution and spread across the world but it was challenged by the
communist or socialist ideology. Both these ideologies came face to face and
tried to outnumber the other after the second world war
USSR spread its ideology across Eastern Europe and it was
countered by USA. USA had and having a strong dislike towards the communist
ideology and in its peak its terminated its own people with the communist ideology.
And outside its territory violent coups were made in order to establish a puppet
state which follows capitalist ideology. On the other hand thing changed after
the latin American countries have formed an alliance against USA and the
domination of puppet state and capitalism.
Things started to break in the so called eastern bloc. People
revolted against the communist ideology and the domination of the USSR. And the
worst part happened after the collapse of the Berlin wall and the fall of USSR. It is clear that forcing to follow an ideology for very long term
without options will fail. There could be domination of an ideology but it will
not last for ever.
